Hi Steve Lather,

Since the blue screen problem, you will encounter is caused by the NVDisplay.Cont driver, and not on the Windows system side. Therefore, if you do not want to take the approach we suggested above, I would like to suggest that you contact NVIDIA support for their solution to see if there will be an alternative solution that will meet your needs. Below is a link to NVIDIA's official website that you can use and ask questions.

Hello Steve Lather,

Welcome to the Microsoft community.

By analyzing the blue screen log you uploaded, I found that NVDisplay.Cont is causing you to encounter this problem.

For this, I would like to suggest you try the following to avoid experiencing the blue screen problem again.

Solution 1:

  • Delete folder
      C:Program FilesNVIDIA CorporationDisplay.NvContainerpluginsLocalSystemDisplayDriverRAS

  • Delete folder
      C:Program FilesNVIDIA CorporationDisplayDriverRAS

  • Then terminate the NVDisplay.Container.exe processes in Task Manager.
  • Restart your computer.

Solution 2: Disable NVDisplay.Container.exe

  • Press Win + R on your keyboard, enter services.msc. and hit Enter.
  • In the list of open Windows service, searching NVIDIA LS display container and double click on it.
  • Click on “Stop” and then configure “Disabled” in the “Start type” and apply the settings.

After these steps, NVDisplay.Container.exe procedure will not show up in Task Manager until you run it manually.

If there is anything that is not clear, do not hesitate to let me know.

Sincerely

Mavis - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

I googled that doing this would make some features like the control panel unusable, but I don't want that. Besides following your suggestion, is there anything I can do to avoid the crash without disabling the NV service?

    Thank you. Love.
