Windows Update Disabled

Basically, I wanted to download Netflix from the Microsoft Store, but I kept giving me error 0x80070422 (Windows Updates is Disabled). I searched the internet for solutions and none of them worked. I tried troubleshooting but I said there were no issues found. I tried using powershell prompts to enable it, which only gave me another error code (1085). Then I tried going to the Services app and enable Windows Update, but my access was denied. Once I gained access, I made sure the dependencies of Windows Update were running, and then tried to set Windows Update to Automatic and it still wouldn’t work! Now it gives me error code 1297. I have avast one anti-virus, I've seen that that may be an issue?

I am using Windows 10. When I tried to contact support, they sent me a link to download Windows 10? The update failed anyways, but I fail to see how updating to Windows 10 when I already have Windows 10 helps. Also, the whole route of the problem is that my updates are disabled, the solution made no sense. That’s why I have come here for answers.

It looks like something is interfering with Windows update service. Please try running your Antivirus or antimalware program and try to scan your system for any virus or malware. Please try to scan your system using the free edition of Malwarebytes.

    Hi Bella,

Avast shouldn't interfere with the Windows Update service. Please run the following command and post the output in your reply.

From a Command Prompt window, run:

    • sc.exe qc wuauserv

The above command queries the Windows Update service configuration on the computer.
