Please explain Bitlocker Recovery Keys web page

How do I delete old Bitlocker keys from my Microsoft account?

It's simple in the cases where the key is listed with a unique Netbios name of a computer I've retired. But I have four different keys listed for the same Netbios name of a computer still in use and five keys with vague Netbios names like "DESKTOP-XXXXXXX where the X's differ.

Also what to "OSV" and "FDV" mean, and is the meaning helpful in matching keys to drives?

Also, is there any reason to retain the key of a computer that has been reset and sold/gifted?

    Hello Jay,

One way is to go ahead and back up your BitLocker key to a file like in the tutorial below to see what the key is to know which other ones to delete.

OSV drive = Primary drive containing the OS.

FDV drive = Secondary drive. For example, other internal drive other than OS drive.

There's no reason to retain any BitLocker recovery keys for devices you no longer have.
