I see an update named Western Digital Technologies-WDC_SAM-4.55.24.661 but my SSD is not Western Digital, unless MSI has switched gears. But I do have an External HD made by Western Digital.
So, my query today would be: is it safe to execute that update as long as I've got the External HD plugged into the USB or would that same update fly into my SSD, causing me great pain? Please advise.

I am Dave, I will help you with this.
It is safe to install that update, there is no need to have the WD drive connected, Windows will only use the WD driver when the external drive is connected, the WD driver will not be used for your SSD, rest assured, you do not need to worry about that update affecting your SSD
