Hi there.

I am trying to add a game I purchased off the Microsoft Store to Steam, following all the necessary steps to be able to access WindowsApps but it will not allow me because my access control entry is corrupt. I don't know how to fix it.

Please help me. I am lost.

Thanks,

Liam

    Hi Liam,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

The WIndowApps folder is the most protected folder in Windows to ensure the integrity of the Windows UWP apps and Store apps and games, changing permissions on the WindowsApps folder will most likely corrupt all Windows UWP apps and Store games, many people have found that all the apps and store games stop functioning correctly and they had to re-install Windows.

What do you need to be able to add the game to Steam, is it the path to the game exe file?

If it is, open Task Manage, then select the Processes tab.

Right click any column header and turn on the Command Line column

Then start the game and in Task Manager on the Command Line column you will see the exact path to the game executable.

Thanks for your speedy reply. I was able to get to the game's exe file through your clever way but when pasting this into Steam's game adding bar it gives me a pop-up saying I don't have access to the folder.

    Hi Liam,

The best option may be to ask on the Steam Community forum to see if anyone has found a workaround, but honestly, please do not change permissions on the WIndowsApps folder for safety sake.

    Hey Dave,

I really don't want to hijack this post but I have a question for you relating to a previous answer you provided for a different question. I am wondering how to make all the folders in my library all not have the \user\onedrive. Would you be able to help me? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/why-are-my-desktop-files-located-in-a-onedrive/9c618093-b999-4da1-a931-02a0098ed244
