Broken Permissions

I have a file that just ignores permissions. Even when "Everyone" owns it and "Everyone" has the Full control, the file just ignores permissions. How do I force delete a file without permissions?

It just worked the 8th time. I still would like to know how to bypass this system, as if "Everyone" owns a file then I literally can't give more broad permissions.

    Hi Griffin,

My name is Cindy. I am sorry you are having this problem. I know it is really frustrating. I will do my best to help you with this problem.

Please note: This is a user-to-user community forum. We are users just like you who help others. We are not employees of Microsoft, nor do we have access to your account information.

It is possible to delete the file using the Command Prompt.

Please press the Windows Key and the S key on the keyboard at the same time.

Type cdm in the search but do not hit enter.

Select run as administrator then hit enter.

You will then need to formulate the command line with the instructions below.

    Example

    del c:\users\griffin\desktop\test.txt.

(Replace the text on the left with the path of the file you want to remove. Include the file extension in the command.)

Once you enter it on the page click enter. Then check to see if it has been removed.

Please let me know if you continue to have a problem.

    Best Wishes,
