Microsoft store keeps trying to update apps repeatedly causing crashes on Xbox app

While trying to play games on Xbox game pass, the games are repeatedly crashing within minutes. I noticed on the Microsoft store that updates for the Xbox app and other apps (Solitaire, xbox game bar, Xbox Identity Provider etc) were coming up even after updating them. I have tried lots of ways to fix this. I used troubleshooting, repairing the apps, redownloading the Xbox app, clearing the SoftwareDistribution folder, and much more. Any help would this would be appreciated as I can't seem to play any games on Xbox game pass.

    Hi Mikey,

I'm Christine, an independent advisor and a Windows user like you. I'll be more than happy to assist you today!

Thank you for sharing the steps that you have done already.

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. Sign out and then sign in to your Microsoft Account

Sign out and then sign in to your Microsoft Store and also from your PC.

After the restart, check if it helps.

    1. If the issue persist, please perform in place upgrade to fix the corrupted system files.

Please go to Windows 11 website:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-downlo...

Under Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) select Windows 11 (multi-edition ISO)

Once done downloading the ISO, kindly right-click on ISO then click Mount> then Click Setup.exe

You may be prompted by User Account Control. Click on Yes if so

In the Install Windows 11 dialog, click Next

Setup will check your PC and show a license agreement. Click on Accept in the license terms dialog.

Please wait for the setup program to check for the available free space.

On the Ready to install page, make sure Keep personal files and apps have been checked.

And if you are still getting the same issue after performing in place upgrade, I will suggest you to create a new user profile and check if the issue is also happening on that account, if not, it means the current user account was corrupted and you just need to transfer all your files from the current account to the new one. Please see the steps on how to create new user profile below.

    Create New user Profile:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/cre...

Transfer files from one user account to another.

Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard, select Control Panel.

Select System and Security and then System.

    Click Advanced System Settings.

    Under User Profiles, click Settings.

Select the profile you want to copy.

Click Copy to, and then enter the name of, or browse to, the profile you want to overwrite. This will usually be in C:\Users\username, where username is the name of the profile to which you are copying.

Click Permitted to use, and then add all user accounts to which you want to give full profile control.

    Click OK.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I am here for you. :)
