Microphone only working for a split-second

Hello!

At the end of last year I built a new PC. I have now realised that for some reason the mic is not working...

The microphone is detected, but for whatever reason it does not work. When i start the test for audio recoding it works for a split-second in the beginning, but then it stops working. So when I stop the test it says that is picked up a few % points and sometimes more. And after that short moment it stops to pick up anything. It is doing this with multiple headsets. The headsets also work fine in bluetooth mode, the issue is there only when the headsets are wired. And that configuration worked just fine on my laptop...

I have tried to tinker with the properties, accesses and other things, but the issue is still there... Please help...

If you have only 1 single jack, you need to use a splitter cable if you want to use the rear audio ports of the motherboard to split the input which is on the pink port, and the output which is on the green port.

If your computer case has a combo jack on it, make sure that the combo jack cable is connected properly to the motherboard's audio port. If the issue will persist, kindly test the headset with a splitter cable so you can plug it into the rear port of the system. This will isolate if the issue is the combo jack port of the case or something else.

I have already tried to connect to the pink port for input and it still does not work, and I have checked the manual for for both the motherboard and the computer case, it is a combo jack so that is not the issue...

Thank you for the information the reason why the microphone is not working because desktop has seperate input and output. you need split jack cable in order it to work. try to connect the headset on the input of the CPU you will see that the microphone will work and the audio will not work. Green jackport for output and pink color for input.

Hi Nicole, Thanks for the help!

So the connection is a single jack that handles both in and out. The output works only the input does not...

I also tried it to the back of the PC for input and it still has the same problem.

System model: To be Filled by OEM (I built it myself)

    Baseboard Product: Asrock B550M-ITX/ac

I also looked at that some people have Realtek Audio Drivers and on mine I don't have them, could that be the cause of the issue?

Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

Are you using split jack cable one for input and one for output on headset or usb cable? try to connect it at the back of your CPU.

Can you give me the exact baseboard product and system model of the device?

On keyboard press windows key + R to open run apps.

On run apps type msinfo32 and press enter. look ofr system model and baseboard product.

    Regards
