Event Viewer error wrong dates

For the last week I've been getting micro stutters. I've been scouring my laptop for the issue, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Today, I noticed two new errors. They state "Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update" blah blah blah.

Today is obviously December 2nd, 2022. But one error states it happened on December 31, 2022 and the second error states it happened on January 1st, 2023...

There is literally nothing I've changed about anything. I fell asleep with my laptop working perfectly. The next day, micro stutters. Now I'm getting failed update installation errors? The update center claims my system is up to date, aside from an optional package with a differing code, (KB5020030).

Did Microsoft try to force my laptop to update and broke it?

Edit: Might also be important to note that I had my laptop set to give me temperature in Celsius and it reverted to Fahrenheit by itself, this was a week ago when the issues first started. And all of my Firewalls from Windows Defender are active. I've run DISM and SFC. SFC found no corrupted files.

Hello Ignaeon -

Let's try to fix the Event Viewer wrong date, settings changes, and micro-stutters in Windows 10:

  1. Try to re-register Settings app from Option 2 here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...
  2. Change the time server as shown here:

https://winbuzzer.com/2022/04/19/how-to-sync-yo...

  1. Try these fixes for Micro-stuttering in Windows 10:

  1. Update all drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker.

Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page.

  1. Go over Windows using this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account to replace yours which may be corrupted. Then if necessary continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

Feel free to ask back any questions. If you'll post back detailed results then I may know what to suggest next, if necessary.

It seems to have been several things.

First: I uninstalled MSI Afterburner. I installed it before I knew Nvidia came with monitoring, so it was just bloat anyway. This drastically increased the time between micro stutters, but they were still happening. They went from around once every 2 minutes to once every 30 minutes.

Second: I was relying on Lenovo's auto update software. It was telling me there were no BIOS updates, but when I checked myself, I found a BIOS update from September. This didn't affect the micro stutters, they still happened once every 30 minutes or so.

Finally: I saved the time sync for last because it seemed unimportant compared to the rest but this seems to have fixed the micro stutters.

I waited an hour and a half between each step to be sure of which one solved the issue.

When I woke up and my laptop started acting that way suddenly, it was very concerning. I wish I knew what actually set all this off, but I'll probably have to be content with having fixed it.

    Thank you for your help.
