Windows update not working

Hey guys, i've been having some issues for a couple of days now with one of the last windows update.

The update in question is "2023-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022303)". Whenever i try to download it i get immediately stuck at 25%, even after an hour it wouldn't go up. Also whenever i restart my comuputer it doesn't ask me "update and shut down" but i still get "downloading updates, please don't shut your computer off" (sorry if the translation is not spot on, english is not my first language), and it takes roughly an hour before my computer actually shuts off. Same goes if i try to restart my computer. The page never changes, i don't get any percentage of the update. It stays the same untill the computer shuts off (or restart depending on the imput) after roughly an hour.

I've tried to stop windows update for the next 5 weeks but that didn't help, still have to wait an hour for it to shut down. I couldn't find any solution to this online. Btw, whenever i turn on my computer again i see the " "downloading updates, please don't shut your computer off" scree again for a couple of seconds and then it boots normally. If i go check the updates i see the same update is there, if i download it, it never goes past 25%.

I thought resetting my computer to factory would help but it also get stuck to 1% even after hours. I tried doing local installation, delete all the files. The computer is not even a month old btw. I've been using it since December the 20th.

I don't know what else to do tbh since i'm not good with these things.

I have windows 11 home and i bought the computer from nzxt if that is of any help.

Thank you to whoever reads this, hopefully i can fix it

    Hello Pasquale,

Thank you for updating me with that information. I apologize that this did not resolve the issue. Since this update was released recently, I recommend waiting a few days as it often resolves on its own. In case the issue still persists, feel free to reach the Community again and we volunteer members are more than willing to help.

Stay safe and have a great day.

    Kind regards,

    Hey john,

The in-place update didn't work. When the pc first restarted it self to install windows i got the same update screen and I waited an hour. If finally restarted and check on windows update. The update was still there but this time i had the option di click "download and install". I didn't click just cause I didn't want to run into the same problem so instead i just restarted my pc to see if the problem was fixed now that the update is not installing. But i got the same screen. I then pressed the power button untill the computer was off as this is the only way i've found to bypass the 1hr wait. Logged back on and tried to do the update this time. When i clicked on "search new updates" i had 4 new updates along side the same one. They got installed immediately but the "2023-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022303)" update was stuck at 0% now instead of 25%. Needles to say, restarting the computer put me back in the 1hr loop.

hey, john, good day to you too!
thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.
so far I've tried everything you told me to besides the In-place Upgrade (downloading the file rn).

    1. after I run windows update troubleshooter I'm met with "pending system changes have been detected that require a restart" of course I've restarted y pc many times but I always run into "downloading updates, please don't shut your computer off" for an hour before the computer restarts without doing any update. widows update troubleshooter detects two problems. "check for pending restart" and "check for windows update issues".
    2. Background Intelligent Transfer Service was running, I restarted it with no issues it seems. Windows Update was running too but when I went to restart it, it stopped because the process took too long. after I restarted my pc Windows Update went back to running. i managed to restart it by clicking the option on the top left rather than right-clicking- restart.
    3. after 15ish minutes of waiting DISM doesn't seem to finish the scanning. SFC reported no problems.
    4. Reset Windows Update Components, as soon as I restart the computer it gets stuck in the same "downloading updates, please don't shut your computer off" loop.

I'm gonna try to do the in-place upgrade now, hopefully this one helps.

Also, not sure if this might be causing issues but I'm using a wifi connection, not ethernet. i actually go faster on wifi due to another issue that i never fixed lol.

anyway, I'll keep you updated, and thanks again for taking the time to help me out.
