I just got this brand new laptop with Windows 11 from Black Friday and somehow this windows hello is saying that it does not recognize the fingerprint scanner. I did disable it, but the fingerprint scanner still doesn't work because of windows hello (doesn't recognize the fingerprint scanner). How do I fix this?

I am sorry to say this, but I saw this reply very late because I didn't check my Microsoft email account a lot and an update for my laptop fixed the issue already. At least the solution you provided will be helpful in the future if this happens again. So, thank you.

    Hello Awwab Shuaib,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Let me help you solve the problem of your computer not recognizing fingerprints.

You disabled the fingerprint and then re-enabled it and it still doesn't work properly, right?

If so, it is recommended that you reinstall the fingerprint driver.

1.Windows +X or right mouse click on the start menu and open the device manager

    1. Expand the biometric device, right click to uninstall the driver
    2. Then go to the official website of the device and download the driver for the corresponding model and install it manually

Reboot your computer to check it after the installation is completed.

    1. In addition, you can also check whether the fingerprint-related services are on.

1)Press Windows + R and type "services. msc"

2)Find "Windows biometric services" and select "Stop".

3)Locate C:\Windows\System32\WinBioDatabase, rename the .DAT file to .DAT.BAK file.

    4)Then restart Windows biometric services

5)Press Windows + R and type "services. msc"

6)Find Windows biometric services and select "Start".

Try again after the above operation.

If the Windows hello option shows the set fingerprint button, but the login screen is still unable to use fingerprints, go back to Settings - Account - Login Options, delete fingerprints, delete PIN, then add PIN, add fingerprints in turn [need to pay attention to the order].

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
