Windows 11 System locks randomly while gaming

Hi.

Once every few hours, my PC locks up while I am gaming. It suddenly freezes and no keyboard, or mouse inputs respond anymore. I can still hear audio from the game. Only fix I have found is turning off the power, and restarting.

I have not been able to find anything related in my log viewer, other than the "System has unexpectedly rebooted without cleanly exiting software first" error, but I assume that is from me cutting its power.

I updated to this update a few days ago: KB5022303

It has never occurred before I updated, so I am inclined to think it is the update causing this.

    Hello AdamWinther,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version? You can check it by pressing the Win key + R key, and typing "winver", then press Enter, please take a screenshot/photo of it, and only send the relevant information without PII in the next reply.

Did this occur recently, or has it been going on for a while? If it was recent, did you have any special actions (such as installing system updates*,* hardware changes*, etc.*) before that? Did this happen in all games?

You can then click on the link to view specific information about update packages KB5022303. Or you may uninstall the most recent update to see if it works. "Win" logo key + "Q", enter "control" to open "Control Panel" (viewed by Category*) >* Programs > "Programs and Features" > "View installed updates", sort by date, select to uninstall recent updates, restart.

And you may Perform a clean boot, this is a troubleshooting step. In this mode, we can further confirm whether it is caused by system problem or third-party software or personalized settings. So, please be patient.

Disclaimer*: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.*

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get you back on track.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
