Hello

My problem is, that although I disabled windows defender all the possible ways, and places that I could find (regedit included) the antimalware service executable still comes up on task manager, averaging around 200 mb of ram usage (i have an 8gb system so thats a lot). how to I !PERMANENTLY! disable this piece of ****, thats a bloatware? i really need that 200 mb more, because I try to game on this system, and this defender **** ain't defending me from nothing, but using my ram, cpu, acting like a bloatware, and spying on me. how can i solve this?

best regards!

Please make sure that the limited periodic scanning feature is disabled.

To turn off Defender completely (if you have a third-party AV installed and Defender doesn't turn off automatically), you can open a TrustedInstaller Command Prompt to set the service Startup type to Disabled. Here is the following command to run:

    • sc config windefend start= disabled

(the space after "=" is intentional)

Also, the following is an FYI:

High resource usage by Microsoft Defender AV may not necessarily be a problem with Defender. See Microsoft Defender Program Manager's tweet and the enclosed tweets.

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

I can understand your frustration and anger. I'm glad to help you.

Have you tried the following registry modification scheme.

Another way to disable Windows Defender in Windows 10 is to use the registry. To do this, you also need to boot into safe mode.

    First enter safe mode.

    Once started in safe mode.

    Press Windows key+R.

Enter regedit to open the registry.

    Navigate to HKEY_ LOCAL_ MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Service

Change the "Start" key in the following folder to 4

    Sense

    WdBoot

    WdFilter

    WdNisDrv

    WdNisSvc

    WinDefend

Reboot your pc and check again.

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Looking forward to your further information.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best regards
