Hello,

Since yesterday i noticed when i open msconifg my startup type is selective.

Yesterday i follow this link: Fix MSCONFIG Won't Save Changes on Windows 10 - TechCult

I did search and gave many steps to fix the problem. i even create a new user with admin rigths. At that point the issue seems to be fixed. But i was not happy.

So today i did a clean install i remove Windows partition and also system reserved partititon.

I also received a remote assistant from Microsoft, but it didn't fix the problem.

First question:

1- Is it normal that msconfig doesn't save any changes after click ok?

2- Is there any problem to my windows 10 system if startup type is selected as "selective startup?"

3 - Is there anything wrong with this setting on msconfig?

4 - I am newbie in this subject. i want to learn what is the normal setting for msconfig to work properly.

I know that my PC is refurbished pc is a 6000 hp pro sff. When I bought it I upgraded free of Windows 7 to Windows 10 without any problem.

HP the manufacturer of my pc did not make drivers available for Windows 10

I am very used to windows 10 and i don't want to change to windows 7. sometimes it's a bit slower but it is what it is i am not asking a top of the line performance machine.

Is it safe to work this way?

Should i be worried about something!?

I need to start installing all the software i am used to after making a clean install of windows 10 22h2 pro with all the latest updates.

THank's in advance for all your help.

Kindly regards.

Hugop.

    Ok Mitchell,

    Thank you very much.

I thought this was when something bad was happening, and so i did clean install of my Windows system.

I was disesperate i thought it was some abnormal configuration we should avoid at any cost!

I want to keep everything perfect. I suffer from some condition where I'm too perfectionist.

Thank you very much once again.

Do you know some Windows ebook for free some tool somewhere wher i can learn something about Windows maintainance.

Because i run the command sfc /scannow searching for errors and unfortunatlly many times Windows can find errors and repair them it's normal to happen so often!?

    Hello Miguel,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Thank you for your feedback. As for your first question, we can reproduce this issue after testing. I have submitted this issue for you through internal channels. In addition, you can also submit your questions through the Feedback Hub (if convenient, please provide as much detail as possible, including pictures, videos, etc.).

Please share the feedback link after submitting, I will submit your feedback to the relevant team for investigation through internal channels.

For your second and third questions, there is nothing wrong with selecting "selective startup" as long as the options are checked, which is basically the same as the first option, "Normal Startup."

As for your fourth question, when you perform operations on the system configuration page, such as disabling some third-party startup items or services, the system will automatically switch to "selective startup". This is a normal phenomenon.

So if you have not encountered any problems in the current use, please rest assured that it is safe and you can continue to use as normal.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best regards,
