Hello, I bought a new ideapad gaming 3 laptop yesterday. I tried to turn it on, I got a default boot device missing or boot failed error. I clicked on OK, then I was given 1 hard drive option. I clicked on it, but nothing happens. How to solve it?

You solve by contacting the supplier to replace the failed unit

    Hi Didn't -

I would take it back to the store to get another, exchange it, or get a refund.

Keep in mind you also have a one year manufacturer's support, repair and replacement warranty that comes with any hardware so if problems persist you can call on the PC manufacturer's Support to fix or replace it, making sure it gets done soon enough so you can ensure the repairs work in time for the warranty expiration, or extend it. The PC may also still be under Store return policy, I would contact the manager who will often try to help.

If you want to try to fix it you can boot into the UEFI Setup using the Lenovo OneKey or F1/F2 to check the Boot Priority order, which have Windows Boot Manager set first to boot.

Then look elsewhere in the tabs for Storage settings to try to find the Windows drive to see if it's detected. If not you can try reseating the drive in it's port under the laptop, but if it's sealed I'd contact lenovo Support first to have them walk you through it or return it for service, since opening the case can void the warranty in some cases.

You can also try to run repairs following https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Feel free to ask back any questions. If you'll post back detailed results then I may know what to suggest next, if necessary.

The solution is simple, you just need to change a few settings in the BIOS.

I found an article explaining how to solve the problem on this link https://www.ontikka.com/how-to-solve-default-boot-device-missing-or-boot-failed/
