Game crashes during execution

A friend of mine has a new computer, but he is having problems with video games. The problems he is having are different: with one game specifically, always at the same point the game crashes; with other games what happens is that sooner or later the screen goes black, he keeps hearing both the game audio and discord audio, but after a couple of minutes the computer reboots. I'm a computer engineer, but I don't work at the operating system level so I can't help him alone. We tried to update the OS from windows 10 to windows 11, but it didn't fix the problems.

I wanted to ask what the problems might be and where I can find log files to help me (and you) figure out what went wrong.

The computer specification are the following:

  • Processor: Intel I5 13600K
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 970
  • Ram: 32GB
  • Storage: Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
  • Power Supply: NZXT C850
  • Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z690-P WIFI
  • OS Version: Windows 11Pro 22H2

    Hi Fabiano,

Is there a very large file named Memory.dmp in the C:\Windows folder?

    Thank you for your answer.

I've already checked for minidumps, but there is not such folder C:\Windows\Minidump.

    Hi Fabiano,

Please check to see if your PC is producing any minidump files, I will check those to see if they provide any insight into a potential cause of the system crashes.

    Open Windows File Explorer.

    Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy any minidump files onto your Desktop, then zip those up.

Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox... etc.), then choose to share those and get a share link.

Then post the link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you.

We did it, but nothing changed.

    Any other suggestion?

    Hi Fabiano,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

The best option is to completely remove the current graphics card device driver using the widely available free DDU utility, then restart your PC and go to the support page for graphics card on the manufacturer's website to download and install their recommended version of the graphics card device driver.

A slightly older version of that driver is more stable than the latest version.
