Search function not working

Today my search function stopped working. When i try to type something in the search bar, it just crashes - same thing when i try to look for something in the file explorer or just by pressing windows key and typing.

I have tried to solve it for the past couple hours, tried multiple solutions found online. Managed to uninstall cortana, hoping that reinstall will help me since apparently she's very intertwined with search funcion, but i cannot find it in microsoft store to install it again. Powershell command does nothing. I do not even have SearchUI.exe in my task manager.

Search function works properly on a second profile on the PC - however, i do not want to move all of my files when there might be a solution available.

Please, help me find a working solution.

Thanks for reaching out, Aleksandra. My name is, Zadee. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

If no changes were done and the issue just suddenly happened, I would check the Restore Point in the computer. This saves you time as this allows your computer to go back to a point where the issue has not happened yet. To check your system restore point, follow this:

-Win + R to open run box

-Type: rstrui <Enter>

-Select the restore point date prior to the day the issue occurred

-Hit NEXT, then FINISH

-Wait for the restoration to finish

Let me know if you do not have a restore point saved in the device.

Best Regards,

Thank you so much! I don't know why I didn't think about this solution. I found a restore point from earlier today which worked. It works perfectly fine now.
