Hi

I just installed additional DC on Windows Server 2012 to replicate with the first DC, but when I open Active Directory Users and Computers on the newly installed DC, unfortunately t shows 1st domain controller users, computers, distribution groups etc. (Active Directory Users and Computers [DC1.abc.local)

While it should show its own users, computers, distribution groups etc. (Active Directory Users and Computers [DC2.abc.local)

Any possible solution plz.

Hi @Yousuf Shahzad ,

Have you made sure that your Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) is connected to your "local server", that is your DC2.abc.local?

You can try changing your Domain Controller in the ADUC console as shown in the screenshot below:

First of all check below settings for NIC of both the DCs. (Should I go for below settings??)

Plz correct me if I am wrong for the below settings:

DC1
Preferred DNS: IP of second DC
Alternate DNS: IP of its own

DC2
Preferred DNS: IP of first DC
Alternate DNS: IP of its own

I have already checked Domain Controller in the ADUC console but it shows my second domain controller "Unavailable"

No, when I open ADUC, it shows DC1.abc.local.

DNS settings seem OK, perhaps you missed something while adding your second domain controller?

While changing our Domain Controller in the ADUC console

When I check on DC1, it shows DC2 is online
When I check on DC2, it shows DC2 is unavailable.

I did not miss anything while adding the 2nd DC, I am sure. I followed each and every step properly.

Please guide.

Thanks Leon I have got advantage of the links you shared and now my 2nd DC appears online in "Change Directory Server".

But now when I create a user in my first DC, it does not automatically replicate on 2nd DC unless I go to Active Directory Users and Computers of 2nd DC and refresh it. While it should replicate automatically.

Another problem is when I login with that newly created user on any system, I cannot fully access mapped network drive.

No, now the problem is replication.

Both the DCs are not replicating automatically unless I create a user in the main DC and refresh in another DC.

Manually replicating after refreshing.

Moreover, if I create a new user in the newly created domain and login with that user, I cannot access "mapped network drive'.

Hi，

Thank you for waiting and replying

Run the following commands to see if there are any errors

Dcdiag /v >c:\dcdiag1.log

Repadmin /showrepl >C:\repl.txt

Repadmin /showreps *

You can check whether there is a problem with the new DC. If there is an error, share the screenshot with us. Don’t put all the logs up. We don’t support analyzing these logs.

Sorry for late reply.

I have run both the commands on the 2nd DC, and got two text files 'dcdiag1.log' and 'repl.txt'.

Now let me know should I share the result of both the files? The result of 'dcdiag1.log' is a bit large.
