Windows 11 update error codes

When Windows 11 first came out I built a new computer to meet all the required component specs. All was fine for several months. Then in June I tried installing 22621.232 and received error code 0x80888002.I spent hours trying all the fixes listed on the internet to no avail. Finally, I did a clean install. All was well. I just received update 22622.436 and now I get the error code 0x800f081f. Again, I have tried dozens of fixes from the internet. I do not want to have to do a clean install every time a new update comes out. Please help.

    Hi Paul, it worked. I have spent hours trying all the suggestions on the internet. Thanks for a simple suggestion, that worked.

    Hi CARL,

    I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.

    Please try the following.

    1. Run Troubleshooter

    Run Power Troubleshooter

    Open Settings => System => Troubleshoot => Other troubleshooters =>Windows Update=> Run.

    1. Use Command Prompt commands.

    => Open Command prompt as Administrator.

    => Type/copy the commands below , enter 1 by 1.

    net stop wuauserv

    net stop cryptSvc

    net stop bits

    net stop msiserver

    ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

    ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old

    net start wuauserv

    net start cryptSvc

    net start bits

    net start msiserver

    => Close the Command Prompt and restart your computer then try to update again.

    1. Use System File Checker to check and fix corrupted system files which may be the cause of the issue. Please refer to the link.

    After that try to update again.
