Stop Code | Registry Error

I just decided to get on my gaming PC today and out of the blue I got a blue screen, it said:

Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'll restart it for you.

Stop code: REGISTRY ERROR

(Also there is no loading percentage bar like I've seen on some other blue screens online so I'm unsure why mine doesn't have one.) After restarting, it brings me to my PC's boot configuration screen. Once I save and exit, it reboots and then goes back to the blue screen. It just keeps doing this over and over again.

I have tried to shut my computer down three times once the logo appears in order to bring up the force recovery screen but it isn't working and I cannot seem to find another solution on here or anywhere else online. The only fixes I saw dealt with using the windows key or using a feature that one can only access once they can log in, which I cannot. I'm pretty sure I have windows 10 because my computer was unable to update to 11 and that might be what's causing the problem, but I am unsure.

If anyone knows how to fix this or at least knows what's going on it'll be much appreciated.

(In case this is useful)

When there are problems related to the registry and failure to boot one of the best options is to save files and install a fresh copy of Windows.

Drivers and applications need to be reinstalled.

Windows can save the files to Windows.old.

Then important files can be restored from Windows.old.

    This is a custom install.

Alternatively you can manually back up files using notepad or another operating system.

    This is a clean install.

Find a flash drive that you can format ( > or = 8 GB)

On a working computer create a bootable flash drive with the Media Creation Tool (MCT) (Windows 10 iso):

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-create-bootable-usb-flash-drive-install-windows-10-a.html https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/9230-download-windows-10-iso-file.html

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

On the problematic computer insert the bootable MCT.

Power on the computer and boot to the flash drive.

(turn off secure boot, fast boot, ultra fast boot, etc. as needed)

Follow these links for a custom install (saves files to windows.old and installs a fresh version of Windows).

    Drivers and Applications are reinstalled.

Important files are then restored from Windows.old

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/148005-how-restore-files-windows-old-folder-windows-10-a.html

If you prefer clean install then manually backup files.

All partitions are deleted making an unallocated disk drive.

The Windows iso then creates the default partitions.

    Drivers and applications are reinstalled.

    Files are manually restored.

    Hi Planet Gundaya,

Welcome to post in Microsoft Community. I'm Mosken, let me help you figure it out.

According to your description, I knew that your computer suddenly blue-screens and displays Registry Error, even though you have tried 3 forced restarts to enter recovery mode, it still fails. Is that right?

First of all, in view of the fact that you cannot enter the system and recovery environment at present, it is recommended that you make a boot disk in another normal computer, and then try to repair.

    Make a boot disk

Prepare a flash driver with at least 8GB (Pay attention to backup data, because creating a boot disk will erase all data of the flash driver). Then operate it on another Windows computer.

    1. Visit Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com) and click "Download Now" to download MCT (Media Control Tool).
    2. Run the MCT, select "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO file) for another PC”, and then choose Language, Version, Architecture (if you are not sure about these, choose "Use the recommended options for this PC"), then select "USB flash drive" in the "Select Media to Use" interface, then make a boot disk.
    3. Boot from the USB flash drive after completion, and execute the installation program.

    Repair plan

Select "Repair your computer" in the installation interface,

then "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced Options", shown as below.

    1. You can choose "Startup Repair" to try the system automatic repair;
    2. If you installed the system update before the system is abnormal, you can use "Uninstall Updates" to uninstall recent updates (which include Quality updates and Feature updates, try both).
    3. "Startup Settings" > "Restart", after restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select 4 or press F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode. Or if you' ll need to use the internet, select 5 or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking. Then try to log in normally.
    4. If you have created a system restore point before, you can restore it to that state using the "System restore", but the data since the establishment of the restore point will be lost, please operate with caution.
    5. If none of the above solutions work, you can try to reset the system (in the Trouble shoot page), you can choose whether to keep your user data or not.

The above steps are provided based on the information I have learned so far, I wish that will be helpful to you. If your problem still cannot be solved by these steps, you could tell me the specific situation in the next reply. I will continue to assist you in solving the problem.

    Best Regards,

I created a USB drive as directed. But the malfunctioning computer will not boot up using the USB drive. Any suggestions?

I see this on one of my customers computers too "Stop code: REGISTRY ERROR" and it keeps rebooting, and going back to the same error message, and reboots again and again. So, like the original poster in this thread there is no way to use windows update, scandisk or anything else that is only available le in the OS. Yes, a FULL Rebuild will fix "ANY" issue but, this is a production machine and I don't want to for lack of better terms "NUKE IT". :-)

Creating a boot disk and doing a system reset may be an option but, I have to try. Thank you for that useful information.
