Shrinking open windows

How do I stop Windows 10 from resizing and repositioning my windows when my computer goes to sleep?

This has been a daily aggravation since I "upgraded" from Win7. When I leave the computer unattended for a period, most (not all) of my open windows shrink and move to the upper left, destroying my workspace. For some reason, Word Perfect is unaffected, staying right where I left it. Obviously, this is a minor nuisance to fix once but when it has to be fixed several times a day, every day, for years, it adds up.

The only solution I have found is in Settings / Power Options, to set the time to turn off the monitor to NEVER. This fixes the problem but at the cost of having the monitor drawing power continuously, not a good solution.

Why has MS not come out, long ago, with a patch in Windows Update to fix this bug in the system for everyone?

    Hi,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

I understand you're having issues with windows rearranging when Windows is reopened after hibernation.

This problem may be caused by the graphics Display Driver.

What graphics card are you currently using? Is it using only discrete graphics or discrete graphics + integrated graphics or only integrated graphics?

If you are using a discrete graphics card only, then you can go to the official website of your graphics card manufacturer to download the latest version of the driver for an earlier version and install it to see if it fixes the problem.

If you are using only integrated graphics or discrete graphics + integrated graphics. Then you can try pressing Win+X, select Device Manager and open it.

Find "Display Adapter" - select your integrated graphics card - Uninstall the Device

Restart Windows after uninstalling the device and wait for Windows to automatically retrieve the appropriate display driver.

Then see again if there is a problem.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.
