Folder Permissions

Good Morning,

I have a question regarding folder access for users and their permissions.

Say I have a folder on a server called 'Example' - within that folder are 5 subfolders named 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. If I wanted to grant access to only specific folders so user A can only access folders 3 and 4 - do I just right click those individual sub folders and add permissions in the security tab?

Is there a way that you can have it where the user can only see the folders you have provided access to?

Also If I wanted user A to have access to folders 3 and 4, do I need to add a deny permission on the parent folder 'Example'?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, I'm Elise, and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

You can set permission in the sub folders and that will work fine but the user would see be able to see them if they went into the parent folder.

I wouldn’t set a deny on the parent folder, only the specific folders you wish to block access to.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Elise
