Windows Activation Error

I purchased my prebuilt PC in August of 2019. It came with Windows 10 and worked perfectly until a little while ago. All of the sudden I started seeing the 'Activate Windows' watermark pop up in the bottom right of my screen after exactly 3 hours and 10 minutes of uptime. I have no clue whats causing this, I'm hoping to find a solution without having to reinstall Windows as I don't want to lose all of my files/wait hours for them to back up.

Hi scrappy369-

Thank you for keeping me posted. Where did you bought your laptop? Is it brand new or second hand purchased?

Kindly perform in place repair in your Windows first.

In-place repair/upgrade or repair reinstall is a process of re-installing Windows without touching any of your applications or personal files. In this way if there's any data corruption, damaged system files or missing system files on your computer, this repair will fix or repair them.

To start we need to download an ISO file of Windows 10 and save it to your computer. Please follow the instruction on the link below to create an ISO file

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402819...

After the ISO is created, follow the instructions on the link below created by PaulSey, Microsoft Agent, on how to perform repair install on your computer.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

This process will take some time to complete so you need to be very patient in waiting until the process completes. Once done , restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Regards,

Kevin B.

It was purchased from Best Buy. I bought it brand new however I've owned it for around a year and ten months.

    HI scrappy369-

I'm Kevin B. Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience, let me help you sort things out.

Does the computer came with the license itself or you purchased it separately?

    Kindly open command prompt (admin)

    Type: slmgr.vbs /dlv

    Hit enter.

On the resulting dialogue take a screenshot and post it on your next comment.

I await news. Have a blessed day!

    Thanks,

    Kevin B.
