My main computer is Windows 11 (call it Main) and part of a small network controlled by a Windows 2016 Server Essentials. For several years I have been logging in remotely to Main, which has 2 or 3 months ago upgraded to Windows 11, and the other network computers using the RD Gateway component of Essentials.
Maybe 3 days ago that login from my home computer to Main began failing with the previously unknown Network Level Authentication error.
I tried every solution I found in Google. Turning off NLA works, it is how I am now logged in, but it is not my preferred state. I have gone back and forth more than once, including restarting both the Essentials server and Main.
I administer a server on Azure and with the exact same RDP setup as from home that failed. The Azure server was able to connect as before.
I have checked the About RDP Supported NLA protocol version on these computers:
Home = 10.8
Essentials = 10.2
Main = 10.10
Azure = 10.2
If I could find a way to upgrade all of these to 10.10 I would definitely try that. In the meantime, no NLA on Main.
