Recently, my windows 11 cannot switch input method after login.

Question desription

  1. There is no UI about input method in the task bar near the time.
  2. The UI is shown when logining account, but missing after login an account.
  3. I have tried to ues another account to login windows, and the issue is still here.
  4. In settings, the options about adding input methods is gray and text 'only desktop' is shown behind each input method.
  5. I tried 'sfc /scannow', and it is nothing happened.

Some searching

I have searched about the question and find this. However, it it useless because there is no task named 'MsCtfMonitor'. In 'computer management', There is an empty folder named 'TextServicesFramework' without any task under it.

How can I fix the issue without reinstall my system?

Did you try all of the fixes I gave you? Where are the results of the steps I gave you which most often work for the problem? I am standing by here to help you further, but I need to know the specific results so I know what else to try.

This is an interactive process. I give steps to perform, you do each one and then report back results until something works, so I know what to suggest next. If you need help performing any step, just ask back. But please do not skip any steps. We often find out the skipped step is the fix.

    Thank for your replying.

The following method can open input method service for me.

    > Press Windows+R to open the Run > Type cmd in the box > OK > Enter command Ctfmon > Press Enter

However, it cannot autostart after login. There may be something that remove the autostart.

I add a string term under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run by regedit to make it starting automatically now. Is there a better method?

Hi Vonfry. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

    1. See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide: How to Use Windows 11 System Restore Point (4 Ways)

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began like a time machine. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here which I would install now so it's ready:
    Windows 11 Hide updates

    1. For the error "Desktop Only" on Input method Editor in WIndows 10 and 11 try all the fixes here:
