Hello, I went into the system configuration and clicked boot menu and selected advanced options and clicked the box that sayed number of processors I changed from 1 to 6 and i clicked apply and it said restart I restarted and got a green screen saying your windows insider build ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. And watched some videos on how to fix it and none of them worked so I went on here to see if somebody could help.

Are you reading the information I'm giving you? It explains the various types of Resets in the guide I just gave you for the second time.

There is a Reset that saves files but requires reinstalling your programs. But your files should be backed up at all times anyway because a hard drive can fail at any time without notice.

In the repair steps I gave you earlier there is a method to rescue your files when WIndows won't start. So if you have files you cannot do without I would do that first because not having your files backed up puts them in mortal danger, especially now.

Hello, Greg I tried the first fix and it worked but I turned off the computer and turned it on and the same problem happend so I did the first step again and now it says an error occurred while attempting to delete the specified data element. Element not found. So I went to the second step and it says I had no restore point so I checked the 3rd and says I'll have to do reset what do you mean by that?

Hi Blue. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

I'll show you how to get into WinRE Repair Mode or bootable media Ccommand Prompt to try the fixes here:

    https://superuser.com/questions/1456603/cant-fi...

If that doesn't work then try System Restore to a point before you made the change.

And if that doesn't work you'll need to do a Reset.

    1. Use whichever method works in this link to get into Repair Mode so you can try the necessary repairs or do a Reset:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc...

Easiest is to force shutdown by holding in the power button. Do this twice. The third time you power on it should start into Repair Mode. Once in the Repair Mode try the numbered steps below.

    1. It may be necessary to create bootable media on another PC to access Advanced Startup Options to try repairs, a Reset or do the Clean install. The bootable media has it's own set of files so that repairs or Reset might work better, doesn't require a password, and you'll have it to if necessary do the vastly superior Clean Install.

To create bootable Windows 11 installation media follow the steps under the section to Create Installation media in link Before you Start here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-downlo...

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key given here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, on second screen choose Repair Your Computer, then Advanced Troubleshoot Options, then:

    1. Open the Command Prompt to run the commands given in this post to reverse processors setting changes in msconfig: https://superuser.com/questions/1456603/cant-fi...
    2. If that doesn't work then try to System Restore from the point just before you made the change, then working backward.
    3. If those fail then go back to Troubleshoot Options to do a Reset. Choose the Cloud option to download fresh installation files so it doesn't use old onboard files that may be corrupted.
    4. If that fails choose Install Now, then Custom Install, then at the drive selection screen delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest, click Next to let it create needed partitions and start install - this makes it foolproof. Everything needed to Clean Install is here: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-do-clean-ins...
    5. If you have files that aren't backed up you can use the same bootable media to try to rescue your files using these methods: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
