I have a PC with two SSDs. One with the latest version of Windows 11 with Device security enabled. The other with Windows 11 Insider Preview Dev V25193 which displays Device security - Standard hardware security not supported. Your device does not meet the requirements for standard hardware security. The two SSDs are identical and connected to the same motherboard.

Motherboard Asus Prime Z590A

Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz

Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Your assistance in resolving this issue would be appreciated.

    Hi Kirk,

Thanks for your reply. Your help, suggestions and support is much appreciated.

All hardware is common to both systems. The SSDs are both Samsung 980 Pro. Selection of system is by BIOS Boot selection.

    1. I had this problem with 25179 but didn't pursue it assuming it was a problem with that version.

    2. Trusted Platform Module 2.0 Properties - This device is working properly.

Msinfo 32 - Secure Boot State On

    Kind regards - John

You're not alone. Been a problem since June 2022.

I am getting the same problem on the Device Security screen as shown after doing a windows 11 reinstall.

Is there a resolution as it appears that there is a problem with windows.

    David

    Dear JohnGreenleaf,

Glad to see you in Microsoft Community.

May I ask when did this problem start? I currently have two thoughts:

    1. This is a bug in the preview experience version.
    2. This is caused by using dual systems on the same device.

    Regarding the first possibility.

If the issue didn't exist before upgrade to 25193, it's most likely specific to the current version. I will keep an eye out to see if anyone else posts a related thread in the near future. If this issue is raised multiple times, then I will send a feedback on this issue in order to resolve it.

    Regarding the second possibility.

Several conditions need to be met for device security.

    • TPM 2.0 (also known as Secure Processor)
    • Secure boot is enabled
    • DEP
    • UEFI MAT

Your hardware undoubtedly meets these conditions, so I wonder if there might be a hardware that is exclusive to the regular version of the system. There is no preview experience version security information in this hardware. This question is obviously more esoteric, and I can't try to extract that information for you.

But you can check whether you can see these settings in the Preview Experience system.

TPM: Press Win+X, select and open Device Manager - Security Devices - Trusted Platform Module 2.0

Secure Boot: Press Win+S, type and search for "msinfo32" and enter - System Summary - On the right side of the screen, look for "BIOS Mode" and "Secure Boot Status"

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.
