I am getting an error when I try to download an app on Windows Store: I am signed into my Microsoft account, and when I try to GET an app I get a window asking for my PIN. When I enter the PIN it gives me the following message:

'That Microsoft Account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or get a new one.'

But the account name is the same as my Microsoft account that I am signed in to...

    Hi Andrew -

You're welcome and thank you for the detailed response. I see, if that's the case then let's try to perform the other methods below.

Method 1: Sign out then sign back in to Microsoft Store

    1. Open the Microsoft Store.
    2. On the top right hand side, click the user/account icon.
    3. Click your account username then select Sign-out.

Once you're signed out, close the Store then wait for about 5 seconds, open the Store then sign back in. Check if it fixes the issue.

Method 2: Create a new user profile

    • Try to create a new user profile to check if the same issue will appear. Click the link below for the steps.

Please let me know how it goes.

I have tried both of these. The first one made no difference.

I foolishly created a second profile as a child, so that the MySMS app doesn't offer a download button because it need parental guidance.

I went in to try to change to profile, and I am now getting the same little sequence that asks for my PIN and, when I enter the correct one, it tells me my account doesn't exist. (I now know it is the correct PIN because I tried cc cv's suggestion of 123456, and it told me that was the wrong PIN.)

It is clearly a problem with my Microsoft account. Can I start again with my Microsoft account?

    Many thanks, Jerico T.

Yes, I have already tried terminating, repairing and resetting through Settings, and troubleshooting. None of this changed the response.

For some reason (Microsoft policy?) I apparently couldn't uninstall and resinstall Store...

The interesting thing is that this issue seems to relate to apps from smaller companies: I tried installing an Adobe app from Store, and it went straight in to downloading; with the particular app that I wanted to install (My SMS) Store asked for my PIN; I entered the PIN (which is correct for my Microsoft account) and it then came back with the screen shown before. I also, when asked for the PIN clicked Use a method not listed here, and it went straight to the box saying this account doesn't exist...when it is the account I am signed in to in order to download the app.

I went on to try another app from a smaller comanpy (Doge Weather). Again I was asked for my PIN and it told me the account I am using doesn't exist.
