I had a different issue with this update, Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5017026), in that it caused File Explorer to keep crashing anytime I tried to use it. If I removed the update it seemed to work OK but then the update would reload and it would reappear. Out of frustration I rolled back to 21H2 and am having NO issues.
.NET update breaks Windows defender
Hello,
I just installed Windows 22H2 update. After the update Windows Defender worked fine until Windows installed .NET update KB5017026. The same thing happened in July when I installed Windows 11 for the first time. There was a .NET update that broke the Defender.
Event log shows Event 7024 from Service Control Manager: The Windows Defender Firewall service terminated with the following service-specific error:
The parameter is incorrect.
As the firewall does not work I cannot use several applications that need firewall configuration changes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Timo

2022-09-27T20:14:43+00:00 Hello, how are you?
My name is Paloma B., I am very happy to be able to try to help you in the best possible way.
I understand that you had problems with Windows updates, I'm sorry to hear about this problem.
I suggest you uninstall the update and check if the problem still happens, you can hide it so that it is not reinstalled.
Follow these steps to uninstall the latest updates. If you don't need to uninstall the update, go straight to the procedure of hiding it so it won't be listed anymore.
- Press the “Win + I” keys together to open the Windows 10 “Settings” screen;
- In the open window, enter “Update and Security”;
- Now, click on “View update history”;
- On the new page, at the top, click on “Uninstall updates”;
- Then, in the list of updates, select the update;
- With the item selected, click on “Uninstall”;
- After the procedure has been completed, restart your computer. At this time, due to having uninstalled an update, Windows 10 may take a little longer to start the first time.
To temporarily prevent the update from being reinstalled until a new driver or updated fix is available, a troubleshooter is available that provides a user interface to hide and show Windows updates and drivers for Windows 10. You can obtain and perform the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooting.
The following file should also work on Windows 11 and is available for download from the Website: https://www.tenforums.com/attachments/tutorials...
When you click the download link, you will be asked to open or save wushowhide.diagcab.
Opening wushowhide.diagcab will start troubleshooting. Click next to proceed and follow the troubleshooting instructions to hide the problematic driver or update.
I await news.
If these procedures helped you in any way, please click on "I solved my problem" and also mark as an answer, so you can help others users.
