Folks, please.
WIndows 10 upgrade.
After several years with Windows 7, time has come to upgrade. So purchased a Windows 10 Upgrade Key and opened up Download tool.
Anyway, I received an Error Code 0x80072F8F - 0x200000. Anybody out there diagnose what this means? Due to retire soon and I don't have the cash to purchase Windows 11.

2022-09-06T19:08:35+00:00 Hello, how are you?
My name is Paloma B., I am very happy to be able to try to help you in the best possible way.
I understand that you would like to upgrade to Windows today after purchasing a Windows 10 key.
In that case, I suggest you backup your important files and then perform a clean install to switch to Windows 10.
For this, you will first need to create a Windows installation USB, just follow the topic below. If necessary, you can create the USB on another computer.

After completing the creation of the USB, follow this thread, it is very detailed and will assist you in the clean installation of Windows.
***If you have any questions on how to start the USB installation, you can refer to this guide please.

2022-09-06T19:00:40+00:00 I'm afraid you've made a number of mistakes.
1- Microsoft does not sell standalone product keys. Windows is sold together with the software in a USB flash drive. So if you bought only a product key, and particularly if you paid a low price (Microsoft doesn't discount the price of Windows) then you were probably sold something illegitimate. You should buy Windows 10 Home or Professional directly from Microsoft.
2- A computer old enough to have had Windows 7 is by now very old. Before you think about Windows 10, you should find out if your computer is supported on Windows 10. 'Supported' means that the hardware manufacturers have updated the hardware to be sure it will work properly on Windows 10. You also have to consider whether the software on your computer will work properly on Windows 10. It's not against any law to install Windows 10 on unsupported hardware and software, but if you run into problems, there are no official answers, so you'll have to be your own tech support.
3- I don't know what 'download tool' you were using. To upgrade a computer or (even better) to do a clean install, you take the USB flash drive that Microsoft sells and boot the computer from that.
Were I in your shoes, the first thing I would do is to determine whether my computer is supported on Windows 10. If it isn't you could save yourself a lot of frustration by not trying to install Windows 10 on that computer.
