Camera selection on start-up

When I use my Dell laptop on the docking station the facial recognition cannot find the built in camera but it does not transfer to the external camera I also have connected. However when the computer goes into lock through no use and I then return and it looks for a camera it immediately uses the external camera and scans my face then the computer opens for use.

My question is how can I set the computer to use the external camera when it is connected to the docking station on first start-up? I am using Windows 11 and the Dell computer is a XPS13 9370. I should have added that I am using a Dell docking station WD19S 130W.

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

Judging from the purpose you want to achieve, it may not be possible. Because when the computer is turned on for the first time and the login interface is reached, the USB external driver may not be able to directly call and use it. Windows Hello will use the built-in camera device by default in the first startup phase.

    Best regards
