Cannot repair install windows while waiting for update 2004

I'm having some problems with my Windows 10 installation. To fix this, I'd like to do an in place installation so I can keep my apps and files. For this reason, I've created a windows install USB and everything works fine, until it gives the message that it is an old version of windows and that I need to use the newest one (the version that is on the USB is the version that is currently on my PC). At that point, the problem starts. I cannot update to version 2004 yet, because it says my settings aren't supported yet, but I also cannot repair install my installation because it apparently can only do that using the newest version, which is 2004.

What can I do now? A clean install is not an option at this time, and I'm also afraid that it will have the same issue.

    Hi,

    If you cannot repair install the installation, and want to update to latest version, the fastest way to get the upgrade is through Media creation tool or ISO file.

    Before making any changes in your computer, I suggest you to create a System Restore point, so that you can restore back your computer to previous working state if something goes wrong.
