Regedit Error

Hi,

I accidently changed my Regedit file from application type exe to something else... No I cannot open any files and cannot restore my computer.

There is no way to open regedit as exe files do not work. I've tried downloading a regedit file and replacing it but no luck. I can't even open notepad.

Is there any tips to resolve this? I can open now open cmd files as a .com file but don't know what commands I would need to restore it...

    Hi Sea Beard Man,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    Download this registry file

    https://www.tenforums.com/attachments/tutorials...

Right click that reg file and select 'Merge' then confirm the merge.

Restart your PC to apply that change, and the exe file associations will be restored

You can then delete the registry file.

    Hi,

See if applying the exe association fix exefix_cu.reg (more info) helps.

Download exefix_cu.reg, and save it to Desktop.

Right-click on the REG file and choose Merge.
