Error message with Generic USB Hub

Hi

My Amazon basics Generic USB Hub keeps getting an error message every time I try to backup a file. The weird thing is that it does get backed up but I always get the message. It is nerve racking lol.

This happened when I plug it into my new laptop ASUS with Windows 11.

I even spot to a customer service guy and he was stumped too, said he would send it to higher up technicians, but I never heard back from any of them.

Hi RT. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

What is the exact error message?

Update the chipset drivers from the PC maker's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model from sticker on PC. While there check for the latest Chipset, BIOS, Sound, Network, USB3, Bluetooth and all other drivers to compare with the version/date installled for that device in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is how to keep the latest manufacturer's drivers current. Windows drivers are rarely enough.

Try the hub in a different USB port. If it's in a black port, try it instead in one that is blue inside (USB3).

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
