I have found a virus in my laptop via Windows Defender named as 'Exploit:Win32/ShellCode!ml' and it has been labeled active.

I say take action over and over and it is still active and never gets quarantined. It is described as SEVERE! It also tells me 0 threats found after I scan but it is still there. PLEASE HELP

I am not the administrator of my laptop and I do not have the permissions to install said application

Using <C:>:\ProgramFiles\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History did not work due to admin restrictions.

Check the This PC app, there you'll see a drive with the Windows logo near the drive's logo. That is your Windows drive. Then check the letter near that drive's name (for most users, it is labelled as 'C:').

If you have difficulty in identifying the drive, share a screenshot of the This PC program.

    Good Day YukiiPulse,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you.

You can scan your computer using the free version of malwarebytes scanner to check if there are malware or rootkits running in your system.

    Here's the link to download.

    https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thank...

Once downloaded and installed open the app and perform a scan and check for infection.

Once the scan is restart your computer, the malwarebytes will take care of it.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

Paste this location in the address bar in File Explorer and press Enter:

    <Windows drive>:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History

(Replace the <Windows drive> text with the letter of the drive on which Windows is installed.)

Delete the Service folder in the location and check if the issue persists.

How can I check what drive it was installed on without admin?
