Wrong email account

I'm using Windows Ten on this computer. The problem I'm having is that when I'm on different web sites and I want to send/forward what I'm looking at to some one else and I click on the "email" button my system takes me to an email account I no longer have. As an example, I have watch a YouTube video and want to forward it to someone I know. The system automatically opens up "AOL.COM" page. Well I no longer have an "AOL" account. I want to use my account on "Outlook". I have looked at my system, I have had the system search for any AOL on the "C" drive, but nothing comes up. How do I stop the computer system from using that non existence account it wants me to use. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm Louie, and I'm happy to help you today. Hope you're doing well and safe there. I'm sorry that you're having trouble with the email account attached to your pc.

If you're no longer using an account, you can remove it from the Windows 10 settings using these steps:

    Open Settings.

    Click on Accounts.

    Click on Email & accounts.

Select the account that you're planning to remove.

    Click the Manage button.

Click the Delete account from this device option.

    Click the Delete button.

    Click the Done button.

If you need to remove an account for apps, use these steps:

    Open Settings.

    Click on Accounts.

    Click on Email & accounts.

Under the "Accounts used by other apps" section, select the account that you're planning to remove.

    Click the Remove button.

    Click the Yes button.

After completing the steps, the account information will no longer be available on Windows 10.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Louie

Hi Dave. I'm Greg, 10 times awarded MVP, here to help you.

What mail app are you using? It needs to be set as default in Settings > Apps > Default Apps under Email app. That's what determines what opens when you choose elsewhere to Send something by email.

I would use Windows 10 Mail app which is an easier way to access your mail from all your various accounts in one huge inbox that lets you merge all of your Office and Web Mail accounts, with an even larger ad-free reading pane. See here how to get started: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-get-started-...

If you're already using it then go into the Mail app now and choose the Settings (gear Icon at bottom of Inbox), then Manage Accounts, highlight the AOL account and choose Delete Account. Done.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

Louie, Thanks for this info. But this email account does not show up in that section. It does not show up on all my "Forwarding emails" when I want to send/pass something on. it does it on my YouTube account and every once in a while on something else I'm trying to send to someone or even me. When I do have this problem, I usually work around it by copying the address and change screens to my Gmail mail account and send it that way. just an extra step I was trying to avoid. but again, thanks for the help/info.
