I was unable to download apps or install updates from the store so I tired to repair the app data and that didn't work. I then tried the reset app option and that also did not work and now I cannot open the Microsoft store.

I tried to reinstall the store via PowerShell and had this error message

Windows for home | Windows 10 | Microsoft Store

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

I know how frustrating this may be for you but I'll do my very best to help you.

You can use this procedure to reinstall the Microsoft Store.

Step 1: Check if doesn't have any corrupt files on the windows.

1-Right-Click on Start then click on Windows Powershell (admin)

    2- Type these commands.

    sfc /scannow (and press Enter)

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth (and press Enter)

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth (and press Enter)

3- The DISM tool will report whether the image is healthy, repairable, or non-repairable. If the image is repairable, you can use the /RestoreHealth argument to repair the image.

4-Type this command and press Enter:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Step 2: Reset the Windows Update components

1-Right-Click on Start then click on Windows PowerShell(admin)

    2-Type these commands:

net stop wuauserv and press [Enter]

net stop cryptSvc and press [Enter]

net stop bits and press [Enter]

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old and press [Enter]

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old and press [Enter]

net start wuauserv and press [Enter]

net start cryptSvc and press [Enter]

net start bits and press [Enter]

    netsh winsock reset

    3-Reboot your PC

Step 3: Then you can use this other command to reinstall the Microsoft Store.

    1-Right click on Start.

    2-Click on Windows PowerShell(admin)

    3-Type:

Get-AppXPackage -allusers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} and press ENTER.

4-You may see some errors, but it's normal

    5-Reboot your PC

6-Open the Microsoft Store, click on Library then click on Get and Install updates.

I downloaded the patch, but it says that my device is not applicable with this update. Any help?

Don't bother re-installing Windows--I did it 3x and it doesn't restore the ability to install packages with Get-AppXPackage.

We had the same issue and the KB5015020 patch fixed the issue for us.

I also experienced this issue, which started with me being unable to install the Windows Terminal. I tried multiple possible solutions found on the internet to no avail, and I now also cannot use the Windows Store anymore and am unable to install it again.

I'm also hesitant to apply the "last resort solution" provided on a lot of sites, being restoring Windows. Even though it is claimed that files are preserved, I don't want to break any software whatsoever by doing so.

I currently don't see an alternative approach into installing Windows Terminal, since the downloads from GitHub seem to use the same mechanism in the background to install it, which is failing with the same "windows.licensing" error
