Remove OneDrive

I can't seem to fully get rid of OneDrive out of my library's. Shortly after I delete it, the folder keeps coming back. It absorbs my files and after I delete it all my files are gone. And I want my folders to not be linked to OneDrive so I can open them normally. I thought I unsubscribed from it. I deleted my account to it and I skipped this feature at system install. It's controlling my files and folders. How can I remove OneDrive completely from my computer? I even tried the registry, but it keep coming back.

Hi Aaron,

1

Open the Registry Editor again, it will still be on the same page.

2

Double click My Pictures, set its Value Data to this and click OK

%USERPROFILE%\Pictures

3

Double click Personal, set its Value Data to this and click OK

%USERPROFILE%\Documents

4

Double click {F42EE2D3-909F-4907-8871-4C22FC0BF756}, set its Value Data to this and click OK

%USERPROFILE%\Documents

5

Double click {24D89E24-2F19-4534-9DDE-6A6671FBB8FE}, set its Value Data to this and click OK

%USERPROFILE%\Documents

6

Double click the key on the right hand sie beginning with 0DDD015-B06, set its Value Data to this and click OK

%USERPROFILE%\Pictures

7

Close the Registry Editor and restart (not shut down your PC.

That will have changed the library folder references, so that Windows does not use the set inside the OneDrive folder

To tidy up, you will need to move files from inside the Pictures folder in the OneDrive folder into the pictures folder in your user account

You will also need to move your documents form inside C:\Users\Virtu\OneDrive\hjgfuy\Documents into the Documents folder in your user profile folder.

I had to download a screenshot app, but I got it for you.

    And yes, I uninstalled it.

Oh! you can ignore this hjgfuy in the address. I was just trying to relocate it, but it didn't do much.

    Hi Aaron Scudder,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

In Windows 10 and 11 there are two sets of user library folders, one in your user profile folder and the other (default) inside the OneDrive folder.

    1

Have you uninstalled OneDrive from the list of installed software in the settings app?

    2

Click your Start Button, type regedit and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.

Click View and make sure 'Address Bar' is turned on.

Paste this into the Address Bar at the top and hit Enter.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Please provide a screenshot of that Registry Editor page.
