Windows 10 cannot "Safe Eject" USB drive

Again I'm opening a new thread because the original one has been locked: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/forum/all/windows-10-cannot-safe-eject-usb-drive/b7f4e780-3dce-4bfd-a669-b61613e244ff What is the point of locking threads that haven't been solved? Why can't I remove out of date locked threads in "my discussions"?

Back to the problem of not being able to eject USB drives:

For those running a NUC your problem might be related to a particular buggy Intel service.

Try disabling NucSoftwareStudioService.exe from the "Services" app. In my case this service even led to data loss because my external drives were not correctly unmounted. After disabling this service, I'm not having problems to eject my USB drives anymore.

Hi Phemis,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It sounds like your "Safe Eject" USB drive on Windows 10 issue has been resolved by disabling the NucSoftwareStudioService.exe service. Thanks for your sharing which makes it easier for other customers to find the solution more quickly.

And the locking of your last thread can be due to the long-time no response.

Do get back to us if there is any problem in future use. We'll be glad to assist.

Best regards
