Hi Microsoft community,

I have recently upgraded my Asus Zenbook Duo from Win10 to Win11 and everything seemed great at first, but now getting two issues when trying to first login.

Issue 1. I usually use facial recognition to login and this was working ok for the first few days, but a couple of days ago it changed. Where-as before it was dismissing the lock screen upon recognition it now just comes up with a welcome screen and below my account pic it says 'Login Options'. If I click on it i get the options 'Enter Password', 'PIN' or 'Facial Recognition'. If I select facial recognition nothing happens, if I chose PIN a box comes up to enter PIN but then I get 'Issue 2'. Only entering the password opens the lock screen.

Issue 2. As following above when I chose the PIN option the box to enter the PIN opens up but when I enter the PIN I get an error message (0x0 something cant remember the rest) saying PIN not available.

I have tried changing the PIN and turning on and off, and resetting the facial recognition but nothing has worked. Can somebody please help as starting to get a bit frustrated.

TIA, Anthony

Good day! I'm Raniel, a Microsoft user like you. I understand your frustration regarding this issue and I'll do my best to help.

I suggest that you perform the additional methods on these articles to troubleshoot the issue with Windows Hello:

    https://thegeekpage.com/windows-hello-face-is-n...

    https://thegeekpage.com/fix-sign-in-with-pin-is...

Another option is to enable the built-in administrator account, then create a new user account instead:

    1. On the Windows sign-in screen, press and hold the Shift key, then select Power > Restart
    2. After your machine reboots, click on "Troubleshoot" under Choose an option
    3. Click on "Advanced options" > select "command prompt"
    4. On the command prompt window, type net user administrator /active:yes and press Enter
    5. Reboot your machine, see if you'll be able to login to the built-in administrator account
    6. Create a new user account and copy your files to the new account(go through the steps under "My computer is in a workgroup") . Please refer to this article as a guide: https://support.microsoft.com/help/14039/window...

However, if the issue persist, kindly perform a repair install of your Windows which fixes the broken system files on your machine. Here is a guide: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi...

There should be no worries in performing it since you will select the option to keep your files during the process.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
