when my laptop boots up, and I want to open windows explorer it opens and closes immediately. it happens often and won't stop unless i open google chrome or microsoft edge and windows explorer will be back to normal and can be used. but if i close chrome or edge all applications that will open or use windows explorer will immediately follow the force close

example: i close chrome and i open ms.word when i click save as win explorer will open and will close itself along with ms word. it will stop when i keep opening chrome

I really hope for your help and I really appreciate your help

hi raniel! Thank you for the response you have given I really appreciate it.

Unfoturnately, all of the steps you've given don't work at all. so i took the final step i.e. i created a new account on microsoft and got rid of my old account. it was a successful way of working, although i had to reset all my data.

but I thank you very much for the help and advice that has been given. god bless u and have a nice day :)

Good day! I'm Raniel, a Microsoft user like you. I understand your frustration regarding this issue and I'll do my best to help.

Just to clarify, did you make any changes to your machine before encountering this issue(like installing third party apps/antivirus, recent updates, etc..)? Do you also encounter the issue when you access your account via safe mode?. Please see the steps under "From the sign-in screen": https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/sta...

First, kindly double-check if your machine doesn't have any pending security patches. Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates.

Once done, I suggest that you also install the Microsoft Safety Scanner or Malwarebytes Free, then perform a scan to ensure that your machine is free from virus. Here are the links to download them:

    Microsoft Safety Scanner: https://docs.microsoft.com/windows/security/thr...

Malwarebytes Free (select Free Download): https://www.malwarebytes.com/premium/

After the scan, perform a clean boot and monitor again: https://support.microsoft.com/help/929135/how-t...

Another option is to enable the "built-in" administrator account to isolate the issue:

    1. On your search bar, type command prompt and select "run as administrator"
    2. On the command prompt window, type net user administrator /active:yes and press Enter
    3. Reboot your machine, then login to your admin account, and check if you'll encounter the same issue.

Note: If you don't encounter the issue on the built-in administrator account, I suggest that you create a new user account (go through the steps under "My computer is in a workgroup") . Please refer to this article as a guide: https://support.microsoft.com/help/14039/window...

However, if the issue persist, kindly perform a repair install of your Windows which fixes the broken system files on your machine. Here is a guide: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi...

There should be no worries in performing it since you will select the option to keep your files during the process.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
