Program Finding "Ghost" Printers

Our in-house computer program (Epicor Eagle) is finding printers that claim to be on windows (middle window pictured below). As you can see Windows doesn't have any record of these printers. These printers were previously installed locally or from a network device on the computer but are since gone. I've spoke with tech support on our Epicor end and he seems to think its windows harboring old information. Any ideas where these devices could possibly be stored besides Print Management, Settings, or Device Manager? I've also made sure all the old ports were deleted and I've deleted/uninstalled every printer/driver on the computer besides the three that are circled.

That is a question for the printer manufacturer who writes it's Uninstall script that is run when you uninstall it. You might ask their Support if they have an uninstall tool like any antiviruses do to get all the remnants out.

I guess I wasn’t clear, but the Epicor program in the middle are the printers that apparently are still installed on windows. I know the three that are installed are defaults. I’m concerned about the screen in the middle showing up on windows when there is no such printer.

Those are not actual printers. They are for use in printing in your Microsoft Apps.

    Hi Katie -

I'm Kevin B., I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

Those are default/pre-activated program installed on the computer whenever the windows couldn't find any installed printers on the windows computer. You can technically use those in saving your documents in PDF or to a file which can be open in XPS format. You can find these on the optional features of your windows computer.

You may control these default printers by following the steps below

    Press windows key + R

    Type optionalfeatures.exe and press enter

Windows Features window will pop-up, look for Microsoft XPS document writer and/or Microsoft Print to PDF

You may choose to select them as your default printers

Close the Windows Features once done and restart the computer

Hope this will help and have a bless day!

    Thanks.
