I installed the new GoPro Player app, and I am getting two different errors. The App trys to launch, I can see it in the Task Manager momentarily, then it shuts down, and throws the following errors in Event Viewer....

The First is an application error:

  • <Event xmlns="**http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event**">
  • <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /><EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID><Version>0</Version><Level>2</Level><Task>100</Task><Opcode>0</Opcode><Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords><TimeCreated SystemTime="2022-04-12T18:00:42.9814784Z" /><EventRecordID>73363</EventRecordID><Correlation /><Execution ProcessID="0" ThreadID="0" /><Channel>Application</Channel><Computer>DESKTOP-PAOM29M</Computer><Security /></System>

</Event>

The Second Error is a .NET Runtime error

  • <Event xmlns="**http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event**">
  • <System> <Provider Name=".NET Runtime" /><EventID Qualifiers="0">1026</EventID><Version>0</Version><Level>2</Level><Task>0</Task><Opcode>0</Opcode><Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords><TimeCreated SystemTime="2022-04-12T18:00:42.8328769Z" /><EventRecordID>73362</EventRecordID><Correlation /><Execution ProcessID="0" ThreadID="0" /><Channel>Application</Channel><Computer>DESKTOP-PAOM29M</Computer><Security /></System>
  • <EventData> <Data>Application: GoPro Player.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.IO.IOException at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.Win32Error(Int32, System.String) at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.CreateSubKeyInternal(System.String, Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKeyPermissionCheck, System.Object, Microsoft.Win32.RegistryOptions) at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.CreateSubKey(System.String) at Microsoft.Win32.Registry.SetValue(System.String, System.String, System.Object, Microsoft.Win32.RegistryValueKind) at Player.App.WriteLocalDumpRegistry() at Player.App.Main(System.String[])</Data></EventData>

</Event>

These are the things I have tried but have been of no use.

1 - Windows Updated (was already up to date)

2 - Graphics Card Driver (was already up to date)

3 - SFC ScanNow - found some errors, but didn't fix problem

4 - DISM - check/scan/restore (3 seperate processes)

5 - CHKDSK

6 - Created New profile with Administrator rights (same problem still exists)

7 - Uninstall/reinstall App

8 - .Net framework Repair tool

9 - Ran BitDefender, and Malware Bytes, both say system clean.

10 - Cleanboot turning off all processes.

11 - even tried Booting to Safe mode.

NONE of the above has worked for me. I don't know what else to try and am at a complete loss.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Chris

Okay, that does sound like the source of the problem, be sure your Windows is fully up to date and also the Microsoft Store app.

    Thank you Dave.

    I have been digging further, and it seems that the App is only downloading a partial install from the Microsoft Store.

    The App on a different computer downloads approx. 30MB, and then installs.

    On this computer with the problem, the app is downloading about 80KB total. The icon shows up in the start menu, and then it generates the above errors, but I think I am missing a lot of download data. I am now trying to figure out why it is downloading so little of the App on this computer.

    Hi ChrisGoio

    I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    That error trace indicates it is not a Windows error, the app is experiencing an internal bug that is causing difficulty accessing/setting some registry keys, the best option, since this is an internal error in that app, is to contact GoPro Support and provide them with that error trace, so they can work out where the error in the app is.
