Bitlocker

I have recently purchased a Dell G15 5515. However, when I tried to turn it on today, it asked for my bitlocker key. I went into my Microsoft account, and there were two keys. But guess what? THEY DIDN'T WORK!!!!! so yeah that really sucks. I can't open my computer, and the worst part is I can't even reset it(when I try to reset it with cloud download it says that it can't connect, and when I try to reset with local install nothing happens). Further investigation found that the key ID's in my microsoft account don't even match the one on my computer. So what gives? Please help. I have scoured through the internet and still can't find a solution. So pls help.

Some Dell users have faced this problem when the Bitlocker is auto-enabled after a Bios update, one possible workaround is to downgrade the Bios version. You will need to contact Dell Support and they should be able to inform you how to proceed.

If you don't have any important files on your computer the easier solution is to perform a clean install of Windows, you can see at this link how to perform a clean install.

Yeah so I looked at what you said, RobinsonSilvestre. The thing is, the information on the website didn't help. It didn't tell me why the recovery keys in my account were wrong, and it didn't say how to fix the issue where I can't reinstall windows. and also, Windows 10 Home doesn't even have Bitlocker! maybe i should just get a linux boot drive

nah i'm joking i'm not spending like 5 hours of my life learning linux

ok but seriously i need help

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

I know how frustrating this may be for you but I'll do my very best to help you.

You can see at this link an article on the Dell site about the "Automatic Windows Device Encryption or BitLocker on Dell Systems" and how to recover the key.
