Windows Security Options not working

Anonymous

My windows security window turns up with one option: a home button. The rest is missing. It is also worth noting that when I go to settings and click on security, the window becomes unresponsive and will no longer let me click on anything else. Please help, I'm trying to get around a false positive that windows defender is detecting.

    Hi Smitty -

Thanks for the response and I do apologize if the method did not fix the issue

Other anti-malware services running on the background of your windows might have affected the Windows Security. Can you try to disable or remove the anti-malware software and check if the Windows Security works?

If the above method did not fix the issue, please try to create a new user profile on your windows and check if the same issue appears on the new user. This will help determine if the issue is profile specific or if the issue appears on any user profile on your windows.

Kindly click on the link below and follow the steps provided

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for replying, I appreciate the help. To start off, I have no other antivirus installed on my computer, and I experienced this within the hour after installing Windows 11.

Your first method of resetting the app did not work, I still had the same interface and my settings still froze when I tried to click it.

Your second method using the command prompt did not work at all. In fact, it broke my sound settings and I ended up spending another 20 minutes fixing it.

It is also worth noting that I do not have a TPM 2.0 chip in my motherboard/processor. This was required for Windows 11 but it still let me install Windows 11 with it. Perhaps it is the lack of TPM 2.0 that is causing this?

    Reply soon!

    Hi Smitty -

I'm Kevin B., I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

When did the issue started? Are there any other security software installed on your computer?

Kindly try to reset the Windows Security Settings of your computer and check if it helps

Using the Cortana search box, kindly search Windows Security

Right click on on the Windows Security on the search result

    Select App Settings

Windows Security settings will pop-up, scroll down and locate Reset

    Click on the Reset button

Wait for the process to complete

Check if the Windows Security shows the same issue

You may also Run a system file checker to verify the integrity of windows system files on your computer making sure that there are no corrupted files on your windows.

Perform SFC Scan and Repair Windows Image

-This process will perform scan for any corrupted system files or integrity violation and will attempt to repair it along with the Windows Image.

    1. Open command prompt with administrator access
    2. Type each command below and wait until scan is completed.

    SFC /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Quick note: While the command is running, it's expected to see the process stuck at 20 or 40 percent. After a few minutes, the process will complete successfully.

Once you complete the steps, the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool will connect to the Windows Update servers to download and replace any damaged files in the local image for Windows 10 as necessary.

    1. Close the command prompt.

Restart the computer once more and check if the same issue appears

Hope this will help and have a bless day!

    Thanks.

    Kevin B.
