GUI Problems

I'm using a PC tower optimised for audio production that uses Optane technology. For the past 7 days now the system behaves in a manner that necessitates multiple restarts - up to 40 a day ( but who's counting ) - via the computers power button. No problem is ever observed with regard to the keyboard or the mouse. Most often the taskbar is completely unresponsive as is the start menu hence the need to restart with the power button. Almost as likely is the situation where everything seems normal but then an application window that is open behind another application window becomes unresponsive when selected. If the application in the foreground is closed then the remaining window will usually become responsive again. Strange behaviour with the browser is also common. While viewing something on youTube, the browser will randomly go back to its own start up page, or back to the previous video. I've updated drivers, and firmware for the RME sound card; I've uninstalled the Browser - Brave - and reinstalled it when the behaviour continued anyway. I've updated to the latest version of Windows 10 - the system will not be able to run Windows 11 - but the problem persists. If anyone has any ideas I'd like to hear them. Thank you.

Hi there. After four days, where the problem seemed to have completely disappeared, things are now worse than ever to the point where I am now typing this reply on an old Mac laptop rather than the desktop PC, the subject of this exchange, and which is now totally useless. Navigating with file explorer is now impossible as the same behaviour previously observed in Brave and Microsoft Edge is now occurring in said function: it's as if an unseen agent is waiting for me to navigate somewhere with either the Forward, Back, or Up arrows and then, within 30 seconds reverses whatever I've done. There is no third party antivirus software installed on the machine.
