Remove Write Protect on Flash Drives

Anonymous

I have been trying for several days to remove Write Protect on my Flash Drives.

I have been trying the DOS Commands.

I tried the DISKPART and none of the disk drives appear. I have also tried Windows 8.1, with the same results, but would like to stay on Windows 10.

There are no external Write Protect switches.

Thanks in Advance

Len

    Hi Len

Flash drives are very volatile, they can fail anytime, they are not suitable for long term storage, they are really only suitable for moving files from one device to another.

If you have tested those flash drives on more than one PC and they are not working, then yes, you would need to purchase a new flash drive.

    Dave;

Thanks for getting back to me. I could have two bad flash drives. With something like this I always have at least two tests. Both of the flash drives work on multiple PC's.

Maybe I would be better off going to my computer store and purchasing more flas drives, what do you think?

    Thanks

    Len

    Hi Len

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Try plugging that flash drive into another PC and check to see if it works.

If not, there are 3 unrecoverable errors we get on flash drives 'Write Protected', 'Insert Disk' and 'You need to format the disk'.

You will find 'fixes' all over the Internet, none of them work, sadly the drive cannot be repaired
