Windows Update

Hi,

I need help regarding the upgrade to Windows 11 from the Windows Update. Before going to details, my device is eligible for upgrading to Windows 11, thus it appears as an offer in the Windows Update page. Current Windows version is Windows 10 21H2.

Details:

  1. Update failed to install, with error code reported 0xC1900101.
  2. With SetupDiag, error code is 0xC1900101 - 0x50015; MOUPG CDlpActionPreFinalize::ExecuteRoutine(653): Result = 0xC1900101[gle=0x8007000d]
  3. I've looked to the internet for hours and did not find any solutions. I have tried SFC, DISM, WU Troubleshooter, and none of them works.
  4. I have made sure no drivers are faulty and no updates are available (already up to date).

I welcome any suggestions and possible solutions to this problem. Thanks in advance!

Can you share the Windows update log files?

Upload the (setupact.log and setuperr.log) to One Drive from both $Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther and $Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback folders.

    Thanks.

    Here you go

    From \Panther folder: [Removed]

\Rollback folder does not contain those two log files. Perhaps is because it failed at the very first stage (Windows Update page, no restart button)

    Hi Nakyung_195,

I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Did you already try to upgrade using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant?
If not I suggest that you try it, you can download it from the link below.
    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2171764

Before installing the upgrade, do the following first.

    1. Remove 3rd-party antivirus program.
    2. Unplug any USB devices except for the mouse and keyboard.
    3. Update BIOS if it's available.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for informing me about the Windows 11 Installation Assistant as I haven't tried upgrade using the Installation Assistant. However, I am unsure if this will work as I've seen users with the error 0xC1900101 also failed to upgrade using the Installation Assistant. Also, I may have to consider before going this route as I'm kind of limited on bandwidth. Do you know what are the error codes I got mean? I've tried to search the internet and it seems like it's a driver fault. If this is true, then the Installation Assistant won't make any difference, as I don't have the idea which one is faulty, right?

Also, to add information, I am using a laptop, so I have tried to unplug the mouse before trying to install (using Windows Update, before creating this question) and it got stuck at a certain percentage. I don't have any 3rd-party antivirus program, and my BIOS has just been updated recently.
