Windows 11 update failure

I have Lenovo laptop for about 3 years with Windows 10. After software auto updated and rebooted today (I think it is updated to Windows 11), the computer became abnormal:

  1. the task bar is blank, and no start menu.
  2. clicked app icons on desktop, browser Edge, Chrome can open, other apps such as Mail, Excel etc cannot open.
  3. the display screen periodically flashing blank for one second about every 10 seconds.

I tried to resolve issues following the related web posts by issuing cmd command

c:\WINDOWS\system32>reg delete HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\IrisService /f && shutdown -r -t 0

but I got

ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value.

Microsoft technical support or other experts- Please instruct how resolve the issue or how can I simply return to Windows 10. Thanks!

    Hello Sumit,

I was able to restore Windows 10 following your instruction. Thanks so much for your quick assistance.

I wish Microsoft stop popping up Win11 update continuously and updating to Win 11 automatically until Win 11 is safe for all Win 10 PCs, or provide a check to verify the pc is fit for Win 11 before the update.

    Happy Holidays!

    ajw

    Hi AJ,

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

Let us try to uninstall the Windows 11 update.

Please open the Windows Recovery environment using the steps below:

Press and hold Shift+click the restart button on the lock screen to open recovery options. Click Advanced options>Troubleshoot.

If you are not able to reach the lock screen or start your computer, restart your PC two times when the boot screen is shown. On the third time, windows should open Windows Recovery automatically.

On the screen, click Advanced Options.

    Click Troubleshoot.

    Click Uninstall updates.

    Select Uninstall latest feature update.
