"We couldnt complete Updates Undoing changed" Error 0x800f0922 (Windows version KB5008212)

Not sure why this is happening but I've tried a lot of solutions to fix this.

One day (Perhaps after an update) I went to shut off my pc but strangely I could not shut it off. I would say shutting down, go black and then the desktop would boot up again. I disabled fast startup which fixed this issue but its not the only problem I've encountered since. I've mainly been having issues with the latest windows update (Version KB500212). I go to update and after seeing the blue screen with the installation it goes to 100% and then gives me the "We couldn't complete updates, Undoing Changes. Then returns to the desktop. When I go to the updates section of the settings it says; "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800f0922)".

Since this I've tried many things:

-Restarting PC

-Doing a command prompt scan for corrupted files (None found)

-Made more space on hard drive for update (Over 500GB)

-Ran windows update troubleshooter (Couldn't find issue)

So I'm stumped. Not sure what's happening, but I really want my pc to just function properly. A lot of things have been wonky with it lately so I think this update is needed. Any advice or help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi GerstBoi -

Thanks for the update. I see, we could try another steps below.

    Perform Clean Boot

    • This process will eliminate 3rd party application running in the background of your computer along with services that are not needed to run windows. If there's any conflicting 3rd party application that causes the issue on your computer, this process will stop it.
    1. Open the run box by pressing the Windows Key + R and type msconfig
    2. System Configuration Utility box will open and by default you are on general tab.
    3. On the General tab, click the selective startup and make sure that load system service and load startup items both have checked mark.
    4. Click on services tab
    5. Put a check mark on Hide All Microsoft Services > This is a very important part as if you miss to click on this, computer might not boot properly or permanently and will end up on clean installation.
    6. Once Hide all Microsoft Services have checked mark on it, click on Disable All
    7. Click on the Startup Tab and click open task manager. This will open another window which contains all your startup applications on the administrator account.
    8. Disable all application that you're not using. You can simply just click on them and select disable.
    9. Click OK , Apply and close the configuration utility.
    10. Restart your computer and check if it fixes your concern.

If in case the issue still persist, I would suggest that you perform now In-place Repair/Upgrade.

    Regards,

    Jerico T.

    Hello Jerico,

Unfortunately method 1 did not work. I'm unsure if I did it right, but the windows update went through some different steps I haven't seen, but regardless the same issue happened again. Are there any other suggestions other than method 2? It will be my last resort, but I feel I haven't tried enough yet. Does this error tell me there's an issue with internet connectivity? Cause I find once the update fails and my PC boots back up, my ethernet connection is significantly slower, and have to unplug and plug it back in to fix it. I could try and attempt the update through wifi connection instead.

    Thanks,

    Nickolas.

    Hi Jerico,

Thanks for the reply. Ill try the first method, but wont be doing the second option. As I really don't want to mess with files even though it saves my personal ones. Will get back once I've tried method 1.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    Method 2: In-Place Repair
